In your opinion, how significant is the fact that Washington willingly stepped down as President?
For starters Washington never wanted to run for president, he did it cause he knew that he was able to set a good example for people that came after him and Washington was the only person that people could agree with when it came to his views on things. So I don’t think it’s significant that Washington stepped down as president since he didn’t want to be president to began with, but what I do find significant is that he waited 8 years to step down.

I feel Like Washington was smart but also a little scare of the competition him stepping down only mad it easy and harder for others in they own little way. He didn’t want to be president he only did it to prove a point, and that point was to lead the people in an good example. He didnt want the pressure that people was giving him so what made him a president to the Americans?

In my opinion, I feel like Washington willingly stepping down to be president showed the turn in a new leaf in America in terms of government. Washington looked out not only for himself, but also for the country. With a new president in charge, that means that the country would be exposed to new ideas and possibly new ideals. In that way, Washington willingly stepping down was good for the country.

Having a new president every four or 8 years will be the government that they wanted and Washington set that up for them
Washington warmed of two major things. The first was meddling in foreign affairs because it could have a deep impact on America. Number two is debt should be a pressing matter in governments watch.
ReplyDeleteHonestly speaking Washington stepping down like he did was a major event. He set a precedent that shaped the presidency as it is now. Considering the fact he only did 2 terms when he could have really had more terms. Secondly he stepped down peacefully without any fight. This showed that all exchanges of power should be handled like this.

ReplyDeleteI think that Washington stepping down as president was significant because he was a person who did not want to be president but wanted what was best for his country. Even though he knew it would be easy for him to win a third term he did not want this to turn into a monarchy.

ReplyDeleteWashington only ran for president to set an example in good leadership. His resignation was important because it showed he stood by his beliefs and was a man of his word. Americans are strongly against monarchy. Washington stepped down because him being in power for too long would closely resemble monarchy, which is what they were trying to get away from.

ReplyDelete2. I think it really set an expectation and example for other presidents that came after him. It showed people that they were really trying to be different from England and this showed that they were trying to change and really start their own country. He knew this would be best for the country and with him being so respected and being the first, it just set up for everyone else to follow in his footsteps.

Washington understood that as the first president that everything he did as president would set the precedent. Stepping down was a personal and political move for Washington. After many years of service he was ready to retire, additionally after fighting in the American Revolution which was against monarchy, he did not want to be a “king”.

In my opinion, the significance of Washington stepping down is very important because it reminds us how we escaped a monarchy we’re just one person just stays in power. And instead we can vote a new person with a different belief and that person will leave again so we can have a different voice in charge of our country. Washington taught us how to say goodbye.
