ReplyDeleteThe lives of the Indians had changed since they came into contact with the whites, according to Sharitarish. Thanks to their different skin tone, the Indians and the whites lived completely different. The white people were supposed to expand the earth and feed on domestic animals. The Indians on the other hand, had to wander through the forests and plains and prey on wild animals.
What is Sharitarish's aspiration for his people?
The aspirations Sharitarish had were important. While the moccasins robes and bear claws had less interest for other men, Sharitarish wanted to keep certain items in some prominent part of the lodge. Their kids could visit the place when they were away. So their kids could feel the same joy that their parents had.

ReplyDeleteBecause of the skin tone of the whites, they conclude that the whites were to use the earth to grow crops and eat domestic animals. Meanwhile, they (Indians) were supposed to go through the woods and plains to eat wild animals and to dress with their skin. In a greater ter, the whites had a better life than them.

Sharitarish's aspirations for his people is that the robes, leggings, mocassians, bear claws, etc. be put in the most obvious part of the Great Father's lodge, so that when their children visit this place, they can recognize the deposition of their fathers and the great times of the past.
According to Sharitarish “our intercourse with the whites” has affected the Indians’ way of life because they had to change the way they were when they came in contact with the white traders and hunters. The white people and the “red” skin people had to live two different lives. The whites were to “cultivate the earth and feed on domestic animals” and the “red” skin people were to “rove through the uncultivated words in planes; to feed on wild animals; and to dress with their skin”.

ReplyDeleteThe intercourse with whites have greatly affected the Indians' way of life because Monroe is trying to send a person to change his tribe's habits. Whites want to domesticate the land while Indians want to keep everything in its natural state.

Sharitarish's aspirations for his people is to keep their land the way it always was because the Great Spirit intended for them to feast on wild animals and use uncultivated plants; keeping their land in its natural' wild state. Him and his people enjoy living this way of life and adapting to a new and advanced way of life is not on their agenda.

The Indians life has altered a lot since meeting the whites. Bcuz the color of the whites skin tone they believed they had to take over and domesticate land while the Indians believed everything should be used naturally and stay in it’s natural habitat

Sharitarish believed that the Indians lives changed because of their encounter with whites. The white culture was way different from the culture of the Indians. Indians were stripped away from this natural strengths due to the destructions the whites have caused.

He said the whites sent missionaries (good chiefs) to change their habits and to make them work and live like white people. He also said their game and animals are diminishing because the whites have caused “such a distraction in out game”.

The simple answer would be the white folk was heavily invested in farming and agriculture. They would harvest the earth and feed on animals. While the Indians would be hunter gatherers. They also has different values that were based on beliefs that were tested and true.

White people had different beliefs and cultures than the natives. When they invaded native land, they tried to domesticate and civilize the natives and their way of life.
