  1. What picture of life in Africa does Equiano present?

Equiano portrays life in Africa as a fun but hostile experience where children can have fun whenever there parents are gone and are trained in the arts of war to defend themselves

What elements of slavery does he seem to think will most outrage his readers?

The elements of slavery I believe that would most outrage his readers are the separation of families. I believe so because he did include an excerpt from one of the Africans that had been sold and taken away.

  2. 1. The picture of life in Africa that Equiano present is younger version as hisself as he was taught by his mother. Learning how to play with javelins. When the adults were gone the kids would keep watch for people trying to kidnap them as the other kids played.

    2. The elements of slavery that he thinks will most outrage his readers is that families were separated and was for sold. Parents tend to lose their kids, and siblings lost each other.

  3. 1. What picture of life in Africa does Equiano present?

Equiano describes life in Africa as this joyful hard working society where the people develop and grow within villages. They focused on agriculture and the arts of war; they had this peacefulness and ambitiousness to them.

    2. What elements of slavery does he seem to think will most outrage his readers?

The elements that'll probably outrage the readers are when the white men tell the Africans once they get to the New World, they'll meet others like them and they said this as if it was good thing to have slaves. The whites belittled the Africans every chance they had: blacks chained together, had this off putting vibe to them, and just the fact the men told them they had to be put in forced labor, they also took families apart for their own lust and greed.

  4. 1. What picture of life in Africa does Equiano present?
Olaudah Equiano paints the life in Africa as a rudimentary childhood life, but dangerous. He used to play with the other neighborhood children, but also watch for assailants. Equine lived a normal life until his sister, and himself were captured when he was just 11 years old.

  9. The life he painted in Africa was very family oriented and farm work based. He grew up learning agriculture and other kinds of labor. His life in Africa existed with a lot of labor that they were used to

The elements of slavery that outraged him the most was the inhuman ways they were treated and how families got separated and how they were all basically shoved on a boat with no care

  10. 1A: Equiano presents a picture of a life in Africa as his mother thought him the art of agriculture and shooting. He was happy and when the adults were gone, the children would play and watch for kidnappers

2B: The element of slavery that he thinks will most outrage readers is being tossed around the boat to see if he was “sound” to work. Also, how people were separated from their families regardless of age or relationship with another. Each and every individual were chained together without the thought of every being free

  13. 1. Equiano presents a quite contradictory childhood with on one side it was eventful hard working area that is family oriented and on the other side it was fearful and filled with questionable decisions.

    2. The separation in family because he came from an area where families are respected and for them to be separated and shown a lack of appreciation and terrible treatment, it was foreign to him

  14. Equiano reminisced about his childhood where he learned basic skills like survival. He learned how to preform hunting and farming skills. He lived a pretty hard life dealing with many ordeals.

He was most outrage with concept of kids being taken away from their parents. He came from a village with a very strong concept of family. So for family to be separated was one of the worst possible things one could do.

  17. 1. Equiano presents a life in Africa that is seems to be about family and working hard to provide for the ones that they love . But this sometimes leaves the young children, not working, to defend themselves from dangerous situations.
    2. To the readers the most outrageous parts of slavery to Equiano is the separation of family. For people who have been captured together have false hope of staying together when they are just ripped apart once they reach the new worlds coast.

  18. 1. Equiano’s reason for painting the picture of his life in africa was to show the drastic change he witnessed and experienced. He went from having fun and having a good life to being a slave and being forced to work.

    2. I think the part that Equiano wanted readers to be most angry about is the fact that families and people that came together were being sold separately and torn apart from each other.
