ReplyDeleteThe advantages the Virginia Company see in the promotion of family life in colony is that there were to many single men, that they happened to outweigh the women. They believed without a stable family, crops couldn’t be taken care of unless a family together took care of it.

ReplyDeleteThe Virginia Companies seen that the colony with majority men were struggling so they promoted the immigration of women. Women would solve the problem of the ratio of men to women, the high death rates, and the late age of marriage.

Without a family, one was not likely to stay there working the land but was likely to move somewhere else. The company preferred women to marry landowning men than servants because landowners would be more stable and would be able to provide for their families instead of servants who would barely get by with what they had.

With there being too many single men and not enough families to care for land and crops, nothing cold prosper.

ReplyDeleteVirginia Company seen flourish in the Plantation as an advantage. The males outnumber the women four to five so they promoted women immigration. Being married Is big part in colony life. The book says that the more wife and children on the land will fix the people on the soil.
The Promotion of family by the Virginia Company in the colony was that a family would structure the land work. The make population was higher than the females so a even male female ratio would help balance the work and people are more likely to stay somewhere if they had family there

They believed if women were sent to be married it would provide Virginia with the balance of men to women they needed to create families.

ReplyDeleteThe advantages the Virginia Company see in the promotion family were that the men ratio outnumbered the women ratio and the women, even though they were lesser in numbers, were essential in colony life. Without them there would not be a balance in work ethic and families wouldn't be provided for.

The advantages that the Virginia Company saw in the promotion of family life in the colony was that there would be a balance of men and women in the area. To make the Planation flourish with families and the “respect of wives and children to fix the people on the soil. Aside from the text, I believe another advantage to promoting families to the colony was the keep the money going. If the men have families they could pass on the plantation to the son when they die. Instead of if they did have a family the plantation could not be passed down the next generation.

The company knew that if an individual (male) didn't have a family life, he was bound to move around elsewhere if he didn't have a family.

If a colony flourished with trade, their more likely to make money, and as such they saw if they could promote family life, they could get more people. The more people the bigger the economy is and the bigger their profit is.

ReplyDeleteThe reason behind the Viriginia Company wanting to promote family life in the colony was soloely to create roots in the area. Without family life, people were more likely to leave and move elsewhere.
The advantage Virginia sees is that they will put men in the superior position. The men in the state will be able to pick a women and marry her under his circumstances. This was done so that families could be created and Virginia would have a society with families

Without a family people were more drawn to moving somewhere else. Virginia Company wanted women to marry landowning men than servants due to landowners being more stable and more of a provider for their families instead of servants who would barely get by with what they had.
