A Factor the led to distinct African American cultures in the eighteenth century was the location(Chesapeake, SC, Georgia, and in the north)of where the Africans were placed at. If they were mainly around whites and in a healthy climate they would learn the English language and culture as well as reproduce a lot. If they were in harsher climates and kept to themselves instead of around white culture then they would have a lower reproductive rate and more willingly be able to keep and uphold their cultures from Africa and if they were somewhere where the ratio is low then they could do things more loosely. Another one was if Africans were able to pass down their cultures. If not then there descendants most likely would take up the whites cultures and if so then they would be able to keep alive the many African cultures and religions that there ancestors lived by for many years and keep passing it on.

This is distinct to their culture because it shows their ambition to be set free.
